How to use treats without overfeeding
Treat time · By the Harley’s Treats USA team

We love handing out treats as much as our dogs love getting them. But treats are an extra, not the main meal.
The 10% guideline
Veterinary organizations commonly recommend that treats make up no more than about 10% of a dog’s daily calories, with the rest coming from a complete and balanced diet. Your veterinarian can tell you how many calories your dog needs.
Make each treat go further
Break biscuits into smaller pieces during training — to your dog, a small piece is still a reward. Count the treats everyone in the household hands out, and adjust meals on heavy-treat days.
Treat time safely
Choose a size that suits your dog, supervise them while they eat, and keep fresh water available.
